Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer and Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead HV substation design from 230kV to 345kV, serve as EOR, mentor engineers, and drive business growth across multiple offices.

The role requires experience in substation physical design, project delivery, and team development, with travel across regions as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Experience leading regional or multi-office engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV.
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design, including AIS/GIS substations.
Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations to ensure quality and client compliance.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery from planning to startup.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers for career growth.
Manage team utilization, staffing, and project budgets to meet profitability goals.
Support business development activities, including proposals and client relationship management.
