Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an HV Underground Transmission Engineer to advance high‑voltage cabling designs for transmission projects. The role involves design, estimation, and collaboration across global teams, with client engagement and occasional travel within North America.

The candidate should have 8+ years in underground/subsea cable design, experience with CYMCAP, and familiarity with IEC/IEEE/CIGRE standards. A hybrid work model is employed to balance office and field work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.
• Ability to work with cable design software such as CYMCAP.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CIGRE standards.
• Experience working with major global cable OEMs.
• Ability and willingness to travel within North America.

Responsibilities

• Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design and design review, estimation, site supervision and support as required.
• Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare specifications, power cable route specifications, and reports and progress reports.
• Coordinate with other engineering functions to ensure interfaces are correct.
• Attend and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
• Support factory inspections (FAT) and related testing activities.
