Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an HV Underground Transmission Engineer to support and lead projects in North America, including business development and proposal work for utilities and renewable developers.

You will focus on underground and subsea cable design for 69 kV and above, leveraging experience with electrical design, FAT/SAT, and international standards. The role emphasizes collaboration across global teams with a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.
• Ability to work with cable design software such as CYMCAP.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CIGRE standards.
• Experience with major global cable OEMs.

Responsibilities

• Develop HV/EHV cabling system specifications, design reviews, estimation and site supervision.
• Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare specifications, route specs, reports and progress updates.
• Coordinate interfaces with other engineering functions.
• Attend meetings with clients and subcontractors; support FAT inspections.
• Perform cable size, rating, EMF and thermo-mechanical calculations.
