Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an HV Underground Transmission Engineer to lead and support HV cable system projects in North America. You will work with regional and global experts on design, studies, specifications, and construction support.

The role requires 8+ years in underground/subsea cable design, knowledge of IEC/IEEE/CIGRE, and travel flexibility. A hybrid work policy applies, with collaboration across offices and field sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related engineering discipline; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.
• Ability to travel within North America.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CIGRE standards; experience with major global cable OEMs.

Responsibilities

• Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design, estimation, and site supervision as required.
• Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare specifications, route specifications, and progress reports.
• Ensure interfaces with other engineering functions; attend meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Support FAT testing and design verification; perform electrical calculations and EMF checks.
• Ensure drawings and specs contain adequate information for construction and timely requests for missing data.
