Job summary

Unum, headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, seeks an HR operations support specialist to handle lifecycle activities, research and resolve issues, and process data changes across HR functions (including Workday). You will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely entry within HR systems.

Responsibilities include SOP adherence, end-user support, and contributing to process improvements while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional communication across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in human resources, business administration or a related field.
• 2-3 years experience in HR disciplines including HRIS, compensation, payroll, recruitment, performance management, and/or benefits administration.
• Experience applying HR policies, procedures, standards, and legal requirements to answer questions via phone and email.
• Ability to use discretion, exercise good judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong analytical skills to break down problems and processes.
• Knowledge of state and federal HR laws.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Time management and organization skills.
• Team player with collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the technical and process subject matter expert relative to administration of HR programs and workflow.
• Applies understanding of HR to include Workday to ensure processes are efficient, accurate and compliant.
• Follow SOPs and adhere to policies, procedures, and SLAs.
• Capable of day-to-day administration, providing support to end users, and improving business processes.
• Owns confidentiality, data integrity, and timely HR data entry.
• Articulates HR standards and informs management of issues and improvement opportunities.
• Makes independent decisions in response to demand.
• Supports upgrades, enhancements, and new work activities through testing.
