Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance team and facilities, drive strategies for financial performance, and uphold regulatory and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years in a senior engineering role with at least five years in management, a relevant degree, and LEED-GA certification or plan to obtain within the first year. Exceptional communication and a willingness to support a 24-hour operation are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years in a senior Engineering role; at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree or related technical school degree preferred.
  • Hospitality experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements relating to hotel operations.
  • LEED-GA certification or plan to obtain within the first year of employment.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to lead in a 24-hour operation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance of hotel facilities, F&B spaces, and building systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC).
  • Lead and mentor engineering staff; conduct meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Manage departmental budget, forecasting, capital planning and proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and building codes.
  • Coordinate Fire Safety & Emergency Evacuation Teams and energy conservation initiatives.
