StepStone Hospitality in St. Louis seeks an experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team of our full-service hotel, oversee maintenance of guest rooms and facilities, and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure safe, well-maintained environments for guests and staff.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical skills, a commitment to quality, and a passion for hospitality, with ability to communicate across departments and drive guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency for guest, associate, and vendor communication.
• Ability to design and prepare statistical reports and presentations.
• Ability to report information accurately.
• Ability to scrupulously follow all StepStone and hotel policies and procedures.
• Attend required meetings.
• Minimum lifting of 70 pounds.
• Perform pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, and other manual dexterity tasks.
• Hearing, writing, and typing skills.
• Minimum pulling of 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision of maintenance operations for the hotel, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventative maintenance, hotel rooms, A/C and heating units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.
• Ensure all projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure coordination of activities.
• Aid and instruct craftsmen in scheduling work, ordering material, and completing assignments by a specified date.
• Comply with an ongoing maintenance program.
• Assist with performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
• Tend air conditioners, cooling towers and boilers to provide heat, cool air, and hot water for guests.
• Maintain standards of quality guest service.
• Increase level of guest satisfaction by delivery of an exceptional product through employee development.
• Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
