Job summary

Citi's Retail Mortgage division in Rockville, MD is seeking a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans through strong partnerships with branches, agents, and referral sources.

You will assess borrowers' finances, explain loan options, and coordinate with processors and underwriters to ensure smooth closings while building lasting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Residential Mortgage experience required.
• 1+ year previous sales, credit and/or finance experience required.
• Proven product sales capability is required.
• FHA/VA & conventional loan experience is preferred.
• The ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• The ability to communicate with customers about the proper documents and information needed to obtain a particular loan.
• Knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern consumer lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong relationship development and management skills.
• Expertise of general lending products and overall mortgage industry.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about their financial situation and lending needs to help achieve home ownership goals.
• Collect and analyze financial information including income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history.
• Analyze information to assess loan qualification for a lending solution.
• Make recommendations on lending solutions to meet objectives.
• Advise customers about risks and benefits of alternatives.
• Promote Citi's brand and lending services to agents, builders, and referrals.
• Visit customers outside Citi offices as needed.
• Work with internal partners to support clients and grow business.
• Refer clients to Citi professionals for other financial services.
• Coordinate with Operations to transfer loan applications and obtain information for processors/underwriters.
• Work with Processors/Closers to ensure timely closings and accuracy.
• Develop referral relationships with Realtors, CPAs, builders, etc.
