Job summary

Citi in Washington, DC is seeking a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans and deliver tailored lending solutions. This role combines policy understanding with direct customer interactions to meet clients' home ownership goals.

You will collaborate with branch partners, processors, and underwriters to move applications toward closing while building lasting client relationships and promoting Citi's lending services.

Qualifications

• Residential mortgage experience required.
• 1+ year sales/credit/finance experience preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to explain financial calculations and pricing.
• Self-motivation and teamwork with internal partners.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situations and lending needs to achieve home ownership goals.
• Collect/analyze information on finances, assets, debts, income, and credit history.
• Assess whether customer and property qualify for lending solutions.
• Recommend suitable lending products and explain risks/benefits.
• Promote Citi's lending services to clients and referral partners.
• Coordinate with Operations, Processors, and Underwriters to close loans.
• Develop relationships with Realtors, CPAs, builders, and other referral sources.
