The State of Iowa, Iowa Department of Transportation, is seeking a Highway Technician Senior to lead field crews, supervise daily maintenance tasks, and ensure safety and efficiency on highway projects. This role emphasizes hands‑on leadership, incident response, and coordination of snow operations.

Responsibilities include guiding team activities, conducting safety meetings, and facilitating CDL training while supporting field operations and traffic control tasks.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED or equivalent and four years of highway maintenance, equipment operation, or related field.
• Alternatively, 30 post‑high‑school credit hours equals one year of experience.
• Current state experience as Highway Technician/Construction Technician is acceptable.

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate team tasks with supervisor.
• Respond to accidents and urgent repairs in the field.
• Coordinate snow operations and operate snow equipment.
• Use software to manage daily office tasks and workflows.
• Lead daily meetings and monthly safety huddles.
• Assist with traffic control maintenance activities.
• Support CDL training efforts.
