Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a hands-on, energetic 3rd shift Highway Technician Senior to lead a dedicated crew and help keep highways safe. The role supports the Mission: Making Lives Better Through Transportation, guided by Safety First, People Matter, Customer Focused, Servant Leadership, and Integrity Without Exception.

The position runs Sunday through Friday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM with a $1.00 shift differential on top of the starting wage of $25.89 per hour.

Qualifications

• CDL permit upon hire.
• Class A CDL with endorsements within 5 months.
• U.S. DOT Clearinghouse check.
• Pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Possibility of pesticide/herbicide certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily team tasks with supervisor
• Respond to emergencies including accidents and urgent repairs
• Coordinate snow operations and operate snow equipment
• Use technology/software to manage daily office tasks and workflows
• Lead daily operations meetings and monthly safety huddles
• Assist with traffic control maintenance activities
• Support internal CDL training efforts
