Job summary

CDM Smith’s New England Transportation team seeks a Task Leader for highway design projects in the New England region. Based in Boston, MA or nearby offices in CT or NH, you will lead technical aspects, mentor staff, and deliver innovative transportation solutions.

The role emphasizes project leadership, design development, and collaboration with project teams to meet client requirements while ensuring compliance with regulations. Travel is limited to about 10% of duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• EIT or FE exam within 18 months of hire or promotion.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% or less).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects and ensure technical accuracy.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, plans, specs, and estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver complex projects.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
