Job summary

CDM Smith's New England Transportation team seeks a Task Leader for highway design projects, with base options in Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH. You will guide technical work, mentor junior staff, and deliver innovative solutions for complex transportation challenges.

The role requires a strong background in highway design, project leadership, and collaboration with project teams to meet client needs while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) license
• 10 years of related experience
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects and ensure technical accuracy throughout the lifecycle.
• Oversight & Management: Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects to meet milestones and standards.
• Mentorship: Supervise, review, and mentor junior engineers with training and guidance.
• Design Development: Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaboration: Work with Project Technical Leaders and Project Managers on high-complexity projects.
• Compliance: Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign/seal as required.
• Site Studies: Perform site reviews to align designs with location specifications and update requirements.
• Proposal Support: Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs.
