Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Hardware Reliability Engineer (Build Reliability) to drive avionics reliability from design through production and flight.

You will partner with design, test, and manufacturing, track yield and failures, and deploy Lean inspection processes to meet quality goals. You will perform root cause analyses on failures, guide design/manufacturing changes, and support continuous improvements on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, aerospace, materials, manufacturing, chemical, or engineering physics).
• 5+ years in manufacturing, quality, or design engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience designing and/or troubleshooting PCBAs.
• Experience supporting production and test of complex electromechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with design, test, and manufacturing to ensure reliability of avionics parts (controllers, RIOs, sensors, RF, power, solar arrays, wiring).
• Track yield, test/inspection escapes, and incorporate lessons into NPI.
• Develop, implement and validate Lean test and inspection processes to meet quality goals.
• Monitor product/process performance during ramp‑up using quality/analysis tools.
• Conduct regular build quality reviews to ensure design intent and drive reliability improvements.
• Investigate failures in production, test, and flight to identify root causes and mitigate risk.
• Use schematics, test equipment, and inspection processes for structured root cause analysis.
• Perform gage R&R studies to validate test systems.
• Support shop floor in continuous improvement and Lean autonomous production.
