Job summary

Pure Storage, Inc. in Santa Clara is seeking an experienced hardware design engineer to lead the development, qualification, and validation of storage hardware used in mission-critical applications.

You will collaborate with software, manufacturing, and diagnostics teams to deliver robust subsystems, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical hardening across projects. A strong background in x86, PCIe, and power/thermal management is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in x86 architecture and storage hardware development, validation, and qualification.
• Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (M.S. preferred).
• Deep expertise in CPU subsystems, PCIe/UPI, SAS/SATA, and high-speed I/O protocols.
• Experience with power, thermal, and signal integrity considerations for storage hardware.
• Proficiency in Verilog or CPLD and scripting for automation.
• Familiarity with industry qualification tools and diagnostic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, implement, and debug hardware design and qualification projects from concept through production.
• Participate in all phases of product development including architecture design, docs, FA, and hardware support.
• Define and automate hardware validation frameworks to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Software, Operations, Manufacturing Test, and Support to introduce new subsystems.
• Serve as escalation point for hardware issues; perform deep-dive root-cause analyses.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on design hardening.
• Work primarily in-office at the Santa Clara location in compliance with company policy.
