Job summary

Salesforce, Inc. is seeking a Distributed Systems Software Engineer for GovCloud to design and maintain a large-scale backend platform.

You will build resilient services, optimize AI-enabled workflows, and operate across data centers with strong focus on reliability and security. The role requires deep backend expertise in Java/Golang/Python/Ruby, experience with Kubernetes/Docker, and hands-on work with AI tools to push the boundaries of AI development for enterprise-grade applications.

Qualifications

• Related technical degree required.
• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications.
• Experience with distributed database systems and PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Demonstrated AI-first approach to engineering and using AI tools in workflows.
• Advanced prompt engineering skills and structured prompts for reliability and security.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms.
• Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Build production-grade software with AI as a core part of development workflow.
• Contribute to open source tech and use AI tools to accelerate development.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Write microservices on Kubernetes, Docker, and Mesos.
• Design systems where AI agents integrate into human workflows at scale.
• Critically evaluate code for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
• Balance live-site management with feature delivery and debt retirement.
• Participate in on-call rotation to keep services highly available.
