Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Distributed Systems Software Engineer for GovCloud (Senior/Lead) to build and operate highly available backend systems that scale to millions of users. You will work on edge-case reliability, data integrity, and AI-enabled tooling in a public cloud environment.

The role requires deep experience in designing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems, strong programming skills in Java/Golang/Python, and a strong AI-first mindset.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting infrastructure.
• Experience with distributed database systems and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• A genuine AI-first approach to engineering and familiarity with AI tools.
• Experience using AI tools in development workflows (Claude, Copilot, Codex, Cursor).
• Advanced prompt engineering skills for reliable AI outputs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms on public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba).
• Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Build and ship production-grade software with AI as a core part of the workflow.
• Use and contribute to open source tech (Spinnaker, Zookeeper).
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Write microservices on Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos.
• Design AI-integrated systems and workflows at scale.
• Contribute to a shared system context documenting designs and constraints.
• Critically evaluate code for correctness, security, and performance.
• Resolve complex technical issues and improve availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations to keep services operational.
