Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Distributed Systems Software Engineer - GovCloud (Senior/Lead) to join our GovCloud team. You will design, build, and operate resilient distributed systems on public cloud platforms and drive AI-enabled engineering.

You will work with Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby; use Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker; participate in on-call rotations, and help push AI-driven tooling across thousands of nodes.

Qualifications

• A related technical degree required.
• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of programming in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with distributed database systems and relational databases like Postgres is a plus.
• Demonstrated AI-first approach to engineering and using AI tools in development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms on public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or Alibaba).
• Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Build production‑grade software with AI components and modern engineering practices.
• Use and contribute to open source technologies (Spinnaker, Zookeeper, etc.).
• Develop Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform.
• Write microservices on Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos.
• Integrate AI agents into human workflows to drive efficiency.
• Contribute to a shared system context repository with designs and standards.
• Critically evaluate code for correctness, security, and performance.
• Participate in on‑call rotations to keep services available.
