Job summary

BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING seeks a highly motivated Project Engineer to lead geotechnical, environmental, and civil projects. You will manage planning, execution, and closure, mentoring staff and coordinating with clients on site.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on project engineering experience, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering high-quality solutions while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across municipal, industrial, and commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity where the firm operates.
• Minimum 5–12 years of geotechnical engineering and/or materials testing with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design and construction requirements.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Apply advanced civil/geotechnical engineering principles to project design and problem-solving.
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, specs, drawings, and documentation.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs for design and analysis.
• Conduct site investigations, field inspections, and data collection.
• Interpret and apply relevant regulations (ASTM, IBC).

Responsibilities

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, designers, and field staff.
• Delegate tasks and oversee project team work to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Foster a collaborative environment and support professional growth.
• Lead geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and lab testing.
• Serve as primary client contact and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Communicate project updates and technical findings clearly to clients.
• Ensure quality control across designs, calculations, and drawings.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
• Identify risks and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders for integrated delivery.
• Assist in proposals, scopes of work, and contract documents.
• Identify and pursue new project opportunities and contribute to proposals.
