Job summary

BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING seeks an experienced Senior Engineer to lead geotechnical projects within its Construction Materials Testing group. The role emphasizes technical leadership, mentoring staff, and managing complex geotechnical investigations for municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial projects.

The candidate will oversee field operations, interpret data, and prepare detailed reports for clients and regulators while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in civil engineering with geotechnical focus.
• 6–8 years of relevant professional experience.
• PE licensed in SC or NC; eligible to license in additional southeastern states within six months.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design and construction.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Travel up to 10% for site meetings, seminars, and client development within the southeastern US.
• Strong regulatory, subsurface geology, soil and rock mechanics, hydrogeology knowledge.
• Experience with field investigation techniques (drilling, sampling, logging).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert interpretation of analytical data for a wide variety of projects.
• Lead geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and field data collection; assign soils lab testing.
• Interpret site data to reach project objectives and prepare detailed reports, maps, and client presentations.
• Ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and quality of deliverables.
• Act as technical lead for complex environmental investigations and remediation projects.
• Manage multiple projects with budgets, schedules, and deliverable deadlines.
• Mentor and train junior staff and foster professional growth.
• Support client relationships and business development through proposals and presentations.
