Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our geotechnical group. You will lead complex projects, mentor staff, and expand our geotechnical capabilities across municipal, industrial, and commercial clients.

The role emphasizes technical leadership and collaboration within a fast-paced consulting environment. The Senior Engineer will travel up to 10% for site meetings and client development, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Masters degree preferred.
• 6-8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in SC or NC, with ability to become licensed in additional southeastern states within six months.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design and construction requirements.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for site meetings and client development in the southeastern US.
• Strong knowledge of regulations, subsurface geology, soil and rock mechanics, hydrogeology, and geotechnical site assessment.
• Experience with field investigation techniques (drilling, sampling, logging).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor staff.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• Strong technical expertise and project management skills.
• Ability to interpret and utilize environmental data to reach project objectives.
• Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Strong knowledge of soils laboratory testing procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in geotechnical investigations and project data interpretation.
• Lead geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and field data collection; assign soils lab testing.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and client presentations.
• Manage project budgets and schedules; ensure quality and timeliness.
• Direct field operations including subcontractor oversight, drilling, sampling, and logging.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (geotechnical focus)

Master's degree preferred
