Job summary

Planet is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect I on the Pre-Sales team, based remotely in Australia. You will design geospatial solutions using high-frequency earth observation data to support defence and intelligence users, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical storytelling and customer outcomes.

The role requires up to 50% travel, strong GIS/remote sensing expertise, and the ability to present to governmental stakeholders.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience supporting Australia and/or New Zealand Defence/Intelligence in a technical capacity.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Ability to travel internationally up to 50%.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional working proficiency in English.
Experience with GIS and remote sensing in defence.
Experience in IMINT, ISR and related fields.
Familiarity with geospatial software and programming languages, including AI/ML.
Ability to design and present complex systems bridging business problems and technology.
Ability to coordinate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and proactive work style.
Ability to lead technical customer engagements and run workshops.
Australian security clearance eligibility required.

Responsibilities

Architect and deliver solution demonstrations and presentations highlighting Planet’s capabilities.
Build relationships with customers’ technical and management staff.
Act as senior technical advisor to recommend tailored architectures.
Craft technical responses to tenders, RFIs/RFPs, and proposals.
Collaborate with sales to shape technical strategy across accounts.
Coordinate with internal teams to voice customer needs and assist with RFP submissions.
Meet quarterly and annual sales/operational objectives.
Communicate forecasts, pipeline, and feedback to Sales leadership.
Present to executive Government stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand.
Mentor team members and lead training initiatives.
