Job summary

Esri is seeking a highly technical GIS Solution Engineer for the Defense team to act as a trusted advisor across national government accounts. You will lead technical meetings, craft complex GIS-driven solutions, and present strategic proposals to senior decision makers.

The role requires deep Esri experience, Defense domain knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 50% domestically or internationally. You will collaborate with enterprise teams to align GIS capabilities with mission-critical

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Esri technology, creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and configuring web applications.
• 3+ years of experience in the Defense space.
• Broad knowledge of ArcGIS from an IT context (hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, cloud).
• Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design.
• Understanding of sales and business development processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot client issues related to Esri deployment and system architecture.
• Experience with geodatabases and DBMS technology.
• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments (Microsoft Azure or AWS).
• Experience integrating software solutions with data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms.
• Programming and scripting with Python and JavaScript.
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills.
• Willingness to travel 25-50% domestically or internationally.
• Bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, or related field.
• US Citizenship, background check, and security clearance eligibility for Secret/TS/TS‑SCI.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships and present Esri software and solutions to enterprise-level decision makers.
• Lead technical meetings to drive revenue and success.
• Provide expert guidance on Defense-focused GIS solutions and system architecture.
• Design and deliver presentations for technical and non-technical audiences, including at conferences and executive engagements.
