Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Senior Technologist to independently perform and oversee specialized testing of patient DNA, RNA, and other genetic materials.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in biology or clinical lab science, 5 years in a molecular diagnostics lab, and experience with NGS and qPCR. The role focuses on assay validation, quality control, and regulatory adherence (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, physical or clinical laboratory science.
• 5 years of experience in a Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory.
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and oversees high complexity molecular testing including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, and NGS library prep.
• Manages operation, calibration, and troubleshooting of molecular/genomics instrumentation.
• Reviews and verifies molecular/NGS data for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Maintains specimen processing, reagents, inventory, and detailed documentation.
• Serves as a consultant to lab personnel and healthcare providers and participates in continuing education.
