Job summary

Highmark Health in Pittsburgh is seeking a Molecular Diagnostics Technologist to perform high complexity testing of DNA, RNA, and other genetic materials using NGS, PCR, and related platforms. You will prepare samples, run assays, review data, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires a biology-related bachelor’s degree and relevant laboratory experience; a master’s in Genetics is preferred. Strong attention to quality documentation and teamwork with pathologists is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science.
• 1 year of experience in a Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory.
• Master’s in Human Genetics, Genomics (preferred)
• ASCP or equivalent Certification (preferred)
• 1 year of experience in a clinical Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity molecular testing including tissue preparation, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, NGS library prep, sequencing, and result analysis.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot molecular and genomics laboratory instrumentation.
• Analyze, review, and verify molecular and NGS data to ensure accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage specimen processing, reagent preparation, inventory tracking, and detailed laboratory documentation.
• Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.
