Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a Genomic Laboratory Technologist to perform Next Generation Sequencing and molecular testing, including library preparation for genome, exome, and RNA-Seq, with emphasis on quality control and process improvement within the Institute for Genomic Medicine.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a clinical or medical laboratory science field, ASCP certification (or eligibility) and ongoing CE; experience in genetics/genomics is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical lab science from an accredited program.
• ASCP certification (MLS/MB/CG) or eligible; certification within 3 years; 12 hours CE annually.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex technical laboratory procedures with proper equipment use and documentation.
• Drafts patient reports by interpreting assay results and records laboratory processes and data.
• Performs quality control testing on reagents, chemicals, and kits used for patient testing; participates in QA programs.
• Maintains a safe working environment and assists with safety audits.
