Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Generator Field Service Technician to service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field, supporting residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a technical school with generators, diesel, or power generation focus.
• Some repair or maintenance experience with generators preferred or equivalent education/experience.
• Mechanical aptitude can substitute for formal generator training.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid unrestricted driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Satisfactory driving record and ability to obtain DOT medical certification.
• Ability to service clients after hours and on-call as needed.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and safety guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance: oil/filter changes, spark plugs, coolant checks, and filters.
• Conduct visual inspections of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Clean components: oil, fuel, air filters, and cooling system exterior.
• Test power systems: load bank, ATS, and function testing.
• Troubleshoot: alternators, wiring, switchgear, battery systems, engine.
• Diagnose failures and analyze battery systems with meters.
• Commissioning and startups: design review, testing, switchgear, and control panels.
• Document reports detailing work performed and recommendations.
