Job summary

MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize VA eligibility and enrollment systems, serving millions of Veterans and families. You will design and develop enterprise Java applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot, ensuring robust, scalable solutions.

You'll collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives, optimize database integrations, and contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, and deployments in a fully remote environment. U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of software development experience in a professional environment.
• Strong hands-on Java development and Spring (Boot) experience.
• REST API and web services development experience.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle) and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues.
• Support enhancements and sustainment for applications using Java, Spring, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle.
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and deployments.
