MO is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to modernize VA eligibility/enrollment systems, serving millions of Veterans and families. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and related technologies, while collaborating with architects and senior engineers on modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–8 years of software development experience in professional environment.
• Strong hands on experience with Java development.
• Hands on experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot.
• Hand on experience developing REST APIs and web services.
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases.
• Experience using Git-based source control.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
• Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
