Job summary

MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize VA eligibility and enrollment systems. You’ll design, build, test, and maintain enterprise Java apps using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and related tech. You’ll tackle defects, optimize databases, and collaborate with architects on modernization efforts in a fully remote setup.

Requirements include a BS in CS/related field, 5–8 years of experience, REST APIs, Oracle, and Agile/Scrum experience. US citizenship and geographic eligibility apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5–8 years of software development experience in a professional environment
• Strong hands on experience with Java development
• Hands on experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot
• Hands on experience developing REST APIs and web services
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases
• Experience using Git-based source control
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Strong verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
• Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
