Job summary
MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs, focusing on modernizing eligibility and enrollment systems for millions of Veterans and families. You will design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and related technologies in a fully remote environment.
The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, performance, and scalable backend services, with agile/Scrum practices and CI/CD.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8 years of software development experience in professional environment.
- Strong hands on experience with Java development.
- Hands on experience developing REST APIs and web services.
- Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
- Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
- Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
- Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
- Developing and maintaining backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs.
