Job summary

MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize VA eligibility and enrollment systems. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications, collaborate with architects, and optimize SQL and data integrations. The role emphasizes REST/SOAP services, Spring Boot, and agile practices.

You will work in a remote, US-based team with travel up to 10%, contributing to mission-critical government software and receiving comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5–8 years of software development experience in professional environment
• Strong hands on experience with Java development
• Hands on experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot
• Hands on experience developing REST APIs and web services
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases
• Experience using Git-based source control
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Strong verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
• Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
