Job summary

Hopper is seeking a senior full stack engineer to anchor HTS Assist, its agentic AI travel assistant. You will own the realtime and voice layer end to end, building across React/TypeScript frontend, Scala and Python services, and cloud infrastructure.

You’ll work on multi-tenant platforms, telephony integrations with CPaaS, streaming STT/TTS pipelines, and ensure observability, latency budgets, and compliance. Senior ownership and mentoring are expected in a lean team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with senior ownership of production systems
• Hands-on realtime systems experience (voice apps, WebRTC/SIP, low-latency tech)
• Strong frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (Scala/Python) with cloud infra on GCP/AWS
• Proven API/microservices or event-driven system experience
• Familiar with AI coding tools in daily workflow and ship ownership
• Operable-systems mindset: SLAs, observability, on-call, rollback plans
• Ability to break down complex problems, tradeoffs, and ship iteratively with good cross-team communication
• Bonus: conversational AI/LLM orchestration incl. Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Whisper, OpenAI Realtime
• Bonus: cloud telephony/CPaaS platforms like Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, LiveKit
• Bonus: experience building customer service or CRM tooling
• Familiarity with travel tech (PSS/GDS) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own the voice channel end to end including telephony and CPaaS integrations
• Build features across stack: React/TypeScript frontend, Scala/Python backend, and GCP/AWS infra
• Design for multi-tenant scale with configuration over forks
• Develop safety, compliance, auditing, guardrails, and PII redaction points
• Maintain revenue-critical deployments with observability, alerts, and incident response
• Shape platform capabilities for partner go-lives and external integrations
• Raise engineering bar through code reviews, architecture reviews, and mentoring
