Job summary

Highlight Health is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join a platform team upgrading a claims intelligence platform that handles PHI and provides financial recommendations. You’ll build features end-to-end in Python, FastAPI, and React, and mentor peers while reviewing code for correctness and security.

You’ll work with AI-assisted development by default, balancing speed with auditability, and contribute to architectural decisions in a HIPAA-regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years in full-stack engineering
• Python and PostgreSQL are core stack
• Ability to review React PRs for structure and data exposure risks
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools on a daily basis
• Familiarity with working in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, or PCI) and prioritizing audit trails

Responsibilities

• Build features end-to-end across backend services and the React frontend
• Write core component logic by hand for deterministic calculations
• Review pull requests with architectural and security judgment
• Mentor less-experienced engineers through pairing and code reviews
• Apply sound judgment on AI-assisted development for sensitive data
• Escalate architectural decisions to lead engineer or CTO
