Job summary

Lighten seeks engineers to own backend architecture, data processing and APIs at scale, while collaborating with product and clinical teams to deliver production-ready services. The role includes building ML-powered workflows, crafting responsive web interfaces, and ensuring performance with scalable architectures.

Experience in Python, FastAPI, databases, React/Typescript, and cloud containers is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and API design/development (FastAPI)
• Experience with database technologies (Postgres/MySQL/noSQL) and CI/CD
• Experience in frontend development (React.js/Typescript)
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containers (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Strong Git version control skills
• Experience delivering distributed and ML systems in cloud-native apps
• Familiarity with ML/LLM workflows and data pipelines
• Located in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, design, and operations of backend logic, databases, APIs at scale
• Collaborate with product, clinical, and design teams to translate requirements into production
• Prototype, optimize, and maintain scalable back-end services powering ML workflows
• Develop responsive web interfaces that integrate with server-side logic and APIs
• Optimize applications for performance, speed, and scalability; write maintainable code and conduct reviews
• Design extensible interfaces between internal services and data models
• Contribute as an engaged team member in a customer-focused environment and be able to work in San Mateo 3–4 days/week
