Job summary

Humana seeks a senior full stack engineer to design core backend services and APIs while integrating AI capabilities across product APIs. You will ensure security patterns and HIPAA-compliant practices are embedded in the platform from day one.

The role spans API design, tooling, and deployment practices for a care-focused product stack. You will work with teams to deliver end-to-end features using TypeScript and Next.js, shaping the platform that supports care teams and patients across clinics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with backend and platform engineering
• Proficient in TypeScript and/or Python for API and service development
• Experience building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs
• Solid understanding of authentication (OAuth2, OIDC), API security patterns, and authorization model design
• Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements for PHI security
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack features
• Ownership of complex backend systems end-to-end, from architecture to production
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses

Responsibilities

• Platform and API Architecture: Design and lead core backend services, REST and GraphQL APIs, and service integrations.
• Security and Compliance by Design: Establish patterns for authentication, authorization, auditing, and HIPAA compliance.
• AI and LLM Integration Patterns: Define reusable patterns for integrating AI capabilities into product APIs.
• Observability and Reliability: Build logging, monitoring, and alerting for scalable operation.
• Full-Stack Feature Delivery: Contribute to product features using TypeScript and Next.js.
• Architecture Reviews and Standards: Drive reviews and set backend engineering standards.
