Job summary

Choice Hotels is seeking an Area Director, Franchise Performance (Core Brands) to elevate commercial performance across a portfolio of midscale and upper midscale franchised hotels. The role serves as a trusted advisor to owners, operators, and management companies, driving RevPAR, market share, and profitability through data-driven strategies.

Required reside in Virginia or North Carolina; relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• Fifteen years of progressive hotel industry experience with responsibility for commercial strategy and performance.
• Ten years of hotel leadership experience, preferably with franchise performance or multi-property responsibility.
• Proven ability to influence decisions through analytics and strategic consultation.
• Experience in a matrixed organization with influencing outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong technical skills in forecasting, financial analysis, and BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as strategic commercial advisor to owners and operators using data to identify opportunities.
• Conduct property visits and business reviews aligning revenue strategy with execution.
• Influence adoption of commercial priorities through clear accountability and goals.
• Evaluate market demand, pricing, distribution, and sales performance to prioritize opportunities.
• Develop recommendations to improve revenue, profitability, and owner value.
• Drive portfolio and hotel-level metrics such as RevPAR, ADR, occupancy and growth.
