Job summary

Dechert seeks a Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis in its Philadelphia office. The role focuses on hands-on modeling, forecasting, cost and cash flow analysis, rate analysis, and preparing executive-level materials for leadership.

The candidate will own nuanced analyses from framing questions to model development and presentation, supporting revenue forecasting, profitability analysis, pricing, and strategic scenarios. Reports to the Director of Finance and Data Analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IS, or STEM required; MBA preferred.
• 7+ years in a professional services environment with FP&A focus.
• Strong FP&A foundation: forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, profitability analysis.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; ability to explain complex models.
• Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation skills; translate analysis into insights.
• Experience with large datasets; familiarity with BI tools and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Independently build, maintain, and enhance complex financial models for revenue forecasting, cost analysis, cash flow planning, rate analysis, profitability analysis, and scenario modeling.
• Develop revenue forecasts incorporating historical trends, matter activity, staffing assumptions, and business drivers.
• Support strategic growth analyses, including modeling revenue, compensation, staffing, expenses, and cash flow impact.
• Prepare executive-ready presentations for firm leadership with clear narrative, implications, risks, and actions.
• Analyze performance drivers: hours, rates, realization, leverage, client profitability, and market trends.
• Collaborate with BI and finance teams to leverage data sources, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Translate complex data into concise insights to support planning, pricing, staffing, and strategy.
• Conduct detailed expense, headcount, and operating cost analyses to support budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with annual budget, forecasts, long-range planning, and leadership materials.
• Respond to ad hoc requests by framing issues, identifying data needs, and communicating findings.
• Benchmark performance against internal and external data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate in a flat team environment, contributing analytical capacity without people management.
