Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to lead production-grade data and AI solutions for customers on the Databricks platform. You will own architecture, drive design decisions and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

The role blends hands-on engineering with customer-facing engagement, requires strong code skills, cloud experience, and the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable design. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two+ Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
• Experience with technical project delivery—managing scope, timelines and measurable outcomes.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across stakeholders.
• Travel to customers 20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification

Responsibilities

• Lead production-scale customer technical projects and deliver reference architectures.
• Design, build and deploy end-to-end data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform.
• Guide customers on architecture decisions ensuring security and scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and customer teams to meet engagement goals.
• Provide feedback to product and support teams for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact.
