Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with customers to build and productionize data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and developer relations to deliver production-grade solutions, guide customers through complex deployments, and scale impact across accounts

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of end-to-end data architectures blending pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience delivering technical projects with defined scope, timelines and outcomes.
• Documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to travel 20% to client sites.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer technical projects by delivering reference architectures and custom applications.
• Design data ingestion and ML/AI model integration within production systems.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end big data projects and deployments.
• Own architecture decisions ensuring security, scalability, and alignment with Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with Databricks teams to ensure engagement components are delivered.
• Provide product feedback and guide rapid resolution for engagement issues.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
