Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customers, architect solutions, and productionize data and AI projects on the Databricks Platform. You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development for measurable business impact.

You will embed with customer teams, travel up to 20%, and collaborate with engineering, product, and customer success to scale accelerators and best practices

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript or similar modern frameworks.
• Experience with at least two cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant end-to-end data architectures mixing data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience delivering technical projects with scope, timelines and measurable outcomes.
• Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to travel 20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade delivery of customer technical projects, including reference architectures and data ingestion pipelines.
• Guide customers in end-to-end design, build, and deployment of big data and AI applications.
• Bootstrapping or implementing customer projects with strong customer empathy and measurable outcomes.
• Collaborate with Databricks engineers, project managers, and customer teams to ensure successful engagements.
• Provide feedback to product and support to accelerate issue resolution and share best practices.
