Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to own architecture and lead design decisions for data, AI, and application development projects on the Databricks platform.

You will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions with strong customer empathy. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, scalable architectures, and collaboration with engineering, product, and customer teams to maximize value from data and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experienced with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiar with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deploy production end-to-end data architectures combining pipelines, ML/AI models, and UIs.
• Experience delivering technical projects with scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
• Excellent documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing multiple stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel ~20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects by delivering architectures and reference implementations.
• Oversee end-to-end design, build, and deployment of big data and AI applications.
• Guide customers on architecture and design to ensure secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Databricks teams to deliver engagement components meeting customer needs.
• Provide feedback to product and support teams to improve deployment and implementation.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and drive measurable outcomes.
• Create accelerators, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
• Travel to customer sites ~20% to support engagements.
