Job summary

Forward Air Corporation in Compton, California, is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a busy multimodal terminal. You will operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, wear PPE, follow OSHA rules, and maintain accurate dock documentation.

This role requires 3+ years dock or warehouse experience, a valid forklift certification, and the ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs with and without assistance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (MHE).

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping/delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and tools.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime.
