Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight within a multimodal terminal. You will use forklifts and MHE, maintain documentation, and support dock operations while ensuring safety and efficiency.

The role requires 3+ years in a dock/warehouse environment, valid forklift certification, and strong English communication. Expect a physically demanding but essential position with daytime hours and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately, and to perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld scanners and company systems.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and PPE compliance.
• Learn equipment operation and safety procedures while developing role.
• Support dock productivity, workflow, and operational goals.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
