Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to load, unload, and move freight in a dock/warehouse setting. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, ensuring accurate documentation and safe handling of cargo.

Responsibilities include staging, scanning, and coordinating with drivers while maintaining safety and efficiency. Candidates should have 3+ years of dock experience and forklift certification or the ability to obtain it, plus strong English

Qualifications

• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Basic arithmetic to verify counts, weights and quantities.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and scanning devices.
• Ability to operate MHE such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks safely.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and related MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy and documentation.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and comply with PPE standards.
• Work assigned schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Mentor newer Material Handlers and support dock productivity goals.
• Serve as subject-matter expert on dock operations and equipment.
