Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight within a multimodal terminal. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to safety policies.

The role requires 3+ years of dock experience, forklift certification, and strong English communication. Expect to work in a non-climate-controlled dock environment with physical demands typical of warehousing roles.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Certification/Licensure: Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• Experience: 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately.
• Basic arithmetic skills to verify freight counts, quantities, and weights.
• Technology: Willingness to learn basic computer systems and scanners.
• Equipment: Safe operation of MHE with training.
• Regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues.
