Job summary

City of Yuma is seeking a Senior Equipment Mechanic for part-time work with the Department of Public Works. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of light to heavy equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and maintain records with attention to safety and quality.

Under supervision, you’ll troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform field repairs, and help train others. A Class A CDL within 1 year and ASE certifications are required within the same period.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 4 years' auto/mechanical maintenance experience.
• Class A CDL within 1 year; ASE certifications (Medium/Heavy Truck, EVT) within 1 year.
• Knowledge of safety rules, shop procedures, MSDS and preventive maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for a wide fleet.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs to minimize downtime.
• Maintain work orders, service logs, and parts usage records.
• Provide field and shop repairs as needed; ensure safety compliance.
