Job summary

A City fleet mechanic is sought to maintain and repair City-owned vehicles and equipment, keeping accurate maintenance records and recommending needed supplies. The role reports to the Fleet Supervisor/Working Foreman and requires CDL-A, 1–3 years' auto/truck repair experience, and strong engine knowledge.

Primary duties include maintenance, diagnostics, supervision of an assistant mechanic, parts procurement, and ensuring safety and quality in all tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years' experience with automotive and truck repairs.
• Extensive knowledge of engines and mechanical parts.
• Ability to weld and paint vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
• Valid Ohio Commercial Drivers License, preferably CDL Class A.
• ASE Master Mechanic certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle/Equipment maintenance and repair of City-owned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains maintenance records on vehicles and equipment.
• Train and supervise Assistant Mechanic.
• Procure parts and materials for repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as required.
