Yuma Elementary School District ONE is seeking a Mechanic to perform maintenance and repair work on district vehicles, including school buses. The role involves diagnosing malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all work meets safety standards.

The position reports to the Shop Supervisor/Director of Transportation. Applicants need a High School Diploma or equivalent, IVP fingerprint clearance, and references. 261 work days per year, 8 hours daily, with a $22.00 hourly wage.

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating school buses and/or district vehicles; operating tools/equipment used in maintenance of vehicles; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Aufgaben

• Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and determine needed repairs or replacements.
• Inspect vehicles for safe operating condition including brakes, oil levels, coolant and tires.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations.
• Prepare repair logs and necessary documentation; maintain records and warranties.
• Respond to road calls and emergency repair situations as needed.
• Train and instruct assistants to ensure work is completed in compliance with guidelines.
