Job summary

Shambaugh & Son Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Protection Inspector Lead to provide technical oversight, planning, execution, and documentation of QC activities for fire sprinkler and alarm systems. You will ensure NFPA code compliance across design validation, submittals, installation, testing, and commissioning.

This onsite role requires strong inspection background, coordination with field teams and subcontractors, and mentoring of technicians on NFPA requirements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in commercial/industrial fire protection and life safety.
• Knowledge of NFPA, IFC, ADA, UL, IBC, IEC, NEC codes and ability to read drawings/specifications.
• Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connect and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the fire protection and alarm plan across all project phases.
• Lead technical inspections and quality audits of fire protection systems.
• Coordinate the review and approval of submittals, shop drawings, redlines, and as-built documentation.
• Perform daily field inspections, reporting, and documentation of compliance.
• Interface with field superintendents, system programmers, and subs to resolve installation deficiencies.
• Collaborate with Commissioning Authority, General Contractor, and Owner’s Rep for final acceptance testing.
• Attend QA/QC and safety meetings; provide status updates and resolve escalated issues.
• Generate and maintain reports, test sheets, punch lists, device tracking logs, and closeout docs.
• Ensure traceability of all system components (model numbers, serials, batch codes).
• Mentor technicians and conduct ongoing training on NFPA requirements and inspection techniques.
